American Power: Still No. 1
This is a great article in The Economist which puts America's current woes into historical perspective. America will see brighter days. They deem that if the US were a stock, it would be rated as a "buy," given that it is undervalued and just needs new management...
sure, things can be corrected with a new administration...but there's a lot for that person to do, and it can't be a f'in moron like Giuliani...he's more Bush than Bush when it comes to the "war on terror".
Well, I don't think that's fair to Giuliani. Other than Ron Paul, you can't really believe what any of the candidates in either party believe. They are just pandering to their resective parties' bases. Especially on the war issue. I can't imagine a Giuliani Administration being as incompetent as the current administration.
At any rate, I think the Economist article hits the nail on the head...
Whether Giuliani is competent or not, I can't say. But certainly that is not the perception people have of him. That's certainly not what the press is presenting to the masses.
I hear you. Remember, though, Lincoln suspended habeus corpus.
I agree with you that civil liberties in recent cases have been violated in an unjustified sort of way--but I think you would at least agree that these issues are far more complex than the media would have you to believe...
Lincoln suspended it when there was a real threat to the survival of our nation...there may be threats of terrorism, but creating a police state is not the solution to combating terrorism.
neither is starting unprovoked wars.
i would say that our leaders have been ignoring complexities for at least the past 7...maybe 15 years.

Giuliani was extremely incompetent as a mayor...his record speaks for itself.

he's scary....listen to him talk about terrorism.
he was unpopular in New York, until the media painted him a hero after 9/11. check out the documentary, "Giuliani Time"
the media wants him to win...he's the most "colorful" of all the GOP candidates, will make for better news in the general election.
he will do more to set our country back than any other candidate out there...worse than W.
I disagree. I don't see how he could be worse than the current administration.
Bush has ignored the constitution...Giuliani will burn it.
